Laura L. McClure, Member
In October 2005, Governor Kathleen Sebelius appointed Laura McClure to the Citizens' Utility Ratepayer Board. Ms. McClure currently serves as a member of the Governor's Rural Life Task Force, as a board member of Smoky Hills Public Television, a board member of the Kansas Originals/Post Rock Opportunities Foundation, and as a yearly meeting representative for Glen Elder Friends Church in Glen Elder, Kansas.
Ms. McClure was elected to the Kansas House of Representatives 119th District in 1992 and served five terms, ending her service in 2002. During her terms as a state representative, she served as the ranking member of House Utilities Committee, as the ranking member of the House Environment Committee, on the House Agriculture, Transportation, and Kansas Future Committees, on the Special Telecommunications and Outdoor Kansas Committees, on the Joint Senate and House KAN-ED, and Rules and Regulations Committees.
Ms. McClure was born in Hays, Kansas in 1950, and is a life-long resident of rural Kansas. She lives with her husband, John, in Osborne, Kansas, and is the mother of two adult sons and has two grandchildren.
Ms. McClure is serving a four-year term, which expires June 30, 2009.
