Niki Christopher, Acting Consumer Counsel for the Citizens' Utility Ratepayer Board (CURB), announced today that CURB received notice at 9:58 a.m. Thursday, December 16, 2015, of the resignation of Brian Weber as Chair and member of the CURB Board. The resignation was effective upon receipt.

Brian Weber, Chair of the Citizens' Utility Ratepayer Board (CURB), announced today that the Board has accepted the resignation of David Springe, who has served as Consumer Counsel for CURB since 2002. Mr. Springe's last day will be December 4, 2015. Springe is leaving his post as chief advocate for the state's residential and small commercial utility customers to be the Executive Director of the National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates (NASUCA) in Washington, DC.

The Citizen's Utility Ratepayer Board (CURB) filed testimony today in the Westar Energy (Westar) rate case. (KCC Docket No. 13-WSEE-629-RTS) CURB recommends overall revenue be increased $30.6 million rather than the $31.7 million increase proposed by Westar. CURB recommends no increase in rates for Residential, Medium Business and Public School Customers. Small Business, Large Industrial and Lighting Service customers will see rate increases.

The Citizens' Utility Ratepayer Board (CURB) recommended that the Kansas Corporation Commission reduce the rate increase requested by Kansas Gas Service by over $36 million. KGS has asked the Commission for a $32.7 million base rate increase. On top of that increase, about $18 million currently being recovered through line-item surcharges will be rolled into base rates. Thus, surcharges will be reduced to zero and base rates would increase by $50.7 million under KGS. proposal. CURB proposes limiting the increase in base rates to $14.2 million, a net decrease to total revenues of $3.8 million.

The Citizen's Utility Ratepayer Board (CURB) today issued the following press release concerning KCPL's request for a $63.55 million rate increase: Consultants for CURB filed testimony today indicating KCPL is entitled to a rate increase of only $4.9 million, far less than the $63.55 million requested by the Company.

The Citizen's Utility Ratepayer Board today issued the following consumer alert concerning a Public Hearing regarding the 19% to 30% rate increases proposed by Mid-Kansas Electric Company, LLC (Mid-Kansas) in the Southern Pioneer Electric Company (Southern Pioneer) service territory. Ratepayers will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide public comment at the Public Hearing on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Liberal and Haviland, Kansas.

The Citizens' Utility Ratepayer Board announced today that it will fight a proposed settlement in the Westar rate case. Westar and the Staff of the Kansas Corporation Commission filed a settlement agreement in the current $90.8 million Westar rate case.
